Books!

It can be difficult to know what books will best support your child’s early language development and which ones are developmentally appropriate.
That is what children’s librarians are for!
Stay tuned. We have so much book goodness in store for you.

So, too, is diversity behind the page.

And diversity behind the page (in terms of the characteristics of the authors and illustrators that make the books we love) can be surprisingly difficult to find.

Here are wonderful books for babies and toddlers that are either written by a black author, or illustrated by a black illustrator, or both. They explore universal themes of connection, family and resilience. They are also beautifully illustrated.

We encourage you to invite these books into your home.

Your bookshelves – and your babies! – will be better for it.
