“B is for Baby. B is for Brother. B is for going to see Baba!”
Brother loads up a Basket, puts it on his Bicycle and sets out to visit Baba, his grandfather.
On the way, he passes a Baobab tree full of Birds and Butterflies, a group of Baboons, and crosses a Bridge. When he gets to Baba’s house, he discovers that his Baby sister had snuck into the Basket with the Bananas like a stowaway!
The author/illustrator, Atinuke, from Ibadan, Nigeria, masterfully weaves in details that give this book a strong sense of place and cultural rootedness. Once you read this book, you will want to check out her others (Baby Goes to Market is a wonderful one for slightly older toddlers).
