Lulu Loves Flowers by Anna McQuinn, illustrated by Rosalind Beardshaw
A simple and gentle book about a brown-skinned family and their garden.
Lulu wants a flower garden. “She gets books about gardens from the library”, “chooses her favorite flowers from the books”, plants seeds, and waits for them to grow.
We love this book for its sweetness and for print awareness: note references to Lulu going to the library to read about gardens, her mother writing down a list of the flowers she wants to plant, and Lulu making a flower book while she waits for her flowers to grow.
It ends with a garden party. Lovely!
