Plumber Pearl! by Andrea Zimmerman, illustrated by Dan Yaccarino
Plumber Pearl walks through the door of an apartment building to find that there’s a flood.
No sweat. “Plumbing woes are what I fix. And I’ve got lots of tools and tricks. With wrenches, plungers, pliers, snakes, I’m well equipped when plumbing breaks”. Plumber Pearl gets to work, plunger in hand.
What Maya loves: This is a great book that turns gender stereotypes on their head, with a female plumber lead. My 4-year-old son didn’t care about that though. What he loved was the rhythmic text, parade of tools and relatable story line.
