This book is another beauty. Working mothers everywhere will be able to relate to Ava and her mother, who works Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday.

But this Saturday, things keep failing to go to plan. At each disappointment they pause, close their eyes, breathe deeply, and move on.
But Ava’s mother loses her composure in the face of the final disappointment of the day – at which point Ava touchingly offers reassurance.
This is a stunningly illustrated book, using collage, by black author-illustrator Oge Mora.
What Maya Loves: As a mother who works full time, I cannot stress how much I appreciate a book that centres a working mother. I also love the description of how this mother and daughter pair co-regulate their emotions.
