Ten Seeds by Ruth Brown
This gorgeous book describes, using just a few words per page, what can happen when you plant ten seeds. It is both a countdown book (from 10 to 1) and a book about lifecycles in nature, describing with vivid illustrations how a bird eats a seed (“Nine seeds, one pigeon”), a mouse pilfers another (“Eight seeds, one mouse”), a slug eats yet another (“Seven shoots, one slug”), and so on.
