The Word Collector by Peter H. Reynolds
Some people collect stamps; Jerome collects words.
“Short and sweet words. Two-syllable treats. And multi-syllable words that sounded like little songs. Kaleidoscope Geometry Guacamole”.
Jerome writes down his favorites and keeps them organized in scrapbooks until one day, whilst transporting them, he slips and the books, and all his words, go flying. His words get jumbled: “Big words next to little words. Sad words next to dreamy words”, making poems and songs.
An absolute treasure.
