A cumulative story beginning “I went walking./What did you see?/I saw a black cat/Looking at me.”
This is repeated with other animals: a brown horse, red cow, a green duck and so forth. There are hints (a tail, a duck’s bottom, etc) of what animal will make an appearance on the following page. Bright, simple illustrations.
Wonderful for getting toddlers to say words as they guess (or remember!) which animal will show up next.
