The Numbers Store, by Harrold Green III, illustrated by DeAnn Wiley
“‘We have ZERO eggs.’
‘Let’s go to the store!’”
One worker waves in the parking lot, and the family (all of whom are black) walk through two doors to enter the store. This book explores mathematical concepts: geometry (“pyramids” of apples), time (it takes them 10 minutes to drive home), and infinity (the love of a father for his son).
The author and illustrator are both black.
Maya loves: A lovely addition to our collection of STEM and counting books. Wonderful for joint storytimes. My 2 year old enjoys the simpler concepts and it has sparked conversations about infinity with my 4 year old.
Recommended age: 2-4 years
